When school is out, screen time often goes up. While technology can be fun and educational, too much can affect children’s sleep, mood, and physical health. Here are some strategies for healthy digital wellness during winter break:



1. Set family screen guidelines

Establish daily limits for TV, tablets, and video games. Involve kids in creating the rules so they feel included.


2. Encourage screen-free fun

Board games, outdoor play, baking, and crafts give kids meaningful alternatives to screens.


3. Create device-free zones

Keep mealtimes and bedrooms free from electronics to promote connection and healthy sleep.


4. Model balance

When adults practice healthy tech habits, kids are more likely to follow.



Digital wellness doesn’t mean eliminating screens altogether—it’s about balance. Teaching kids mindful tech use helps them enjoy their break while staying healthy.
